Frequently Asked Questions

  1. To qualify as a Peer Supporter you must: 1) self identify as disabled, 2) be at least 18 years of age,  3) live in Canada and have current or recent work experience (e.g. employment, volunteer work, trainee work) and 4) demonstrate a desire to participate in the program and be willing to abide by the program terms of use and code of conduct.

The application process to become a Peer Supporter has two phases:

1. Online application screening and approval by program admin person. We may contact to for more information during this phase

2. After passing the first phase, we check the two references you provided.

Peer supporters are paired with individuals looking for support through a unique matching algorithm that considers preferences and availability. Support seekers receive a recommended list of peer supporters to choose from. Support seekers then send a request for a match to the volunteer they have chosen. Before being matched, a peer supporter can review the individual's profile and accept the invitation to start a supportive relationship.
